Eastern Tanami Project
Over the past year Tanami Gold has increased its portfolio of tenements in the highly prospective Granites-Tanami sector of the Tanami gold field through the acquisition of a significant landholding from AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited, and the resumption of management of tenements previously under joint venture with Barrick Gold of Australia Limited, both of whom retain a claw back right in the properties.
Work on the project has included compilation of previous exploration data, geological interpretation and target generation. A drilling program commenced recently at the Supplejack Project which encompasses an under-explored inlier of Tanami Group rocks in the northern Tanami region. Of particular significance, the tenements contain unexplored Dead Bullock Formation sediments, the same stratigraphic host unit to mineralisation at The Granites and Callie gold mines, juxtaposed by major gold-bearing structures.
Drilling to date has intersected potential host lithologies to gold mineralisation including carbonaceous sediments containing encouraging zones of quartz veining with sulphide minerals such as pyrite and arsenopyrite which are commonly associated with gold mineralisation in the Tanami region.
